If you are looking for quality installation of glass block, whether it's a window, wall, partition, or complete shower. You have reached the right contractor. We'll put it together to your satisfaction and we always use the

"The complete mortar method".

Here are four ways glass block may be installed.

  1. The silicone method. The base is lined with a silicone chalking and the glass block is set. This method is the cheapest ,easiest, and the weakest. After all the glass block is set, the joints are chalked and the excess chalking is removed.
  2. The simple mortar method. In this method the glass block is set with glass block mortar and true quarter inch spacers. The preparation for this method includes mixing the glass block mortar. Installing panel anchors which stabilize the glass block section to the opening where it is being installed. Installing  expansion strips that are on the perimeter of the opening. Modifying the spacers from their standard form, which work well where there is a complete intersection of four glass blocks, to the “L” shape for all the corners and “T" shape to be used along the perimeter of the  opening
  3. The complete mortar method. This includes everything the simple method uses with the additional use of the reinforced strips on every other row of glass block. These reinforced strips act as a rebar type of anchor on the vertical joints of the glass blocks.
  4. The free form method . Basically , it is the same as the complete method except it is used when the glass blocks are not installed in a straight line but rather like a curved wall of a walk-in shower ( similar to the one in the slide show below) or room partition. All the rebar reinforcements strips are modified to fit the curvature . In this method , these modification are duplicated for all the horizontal rows of glass block to be installed divided by two.
  5. This and all projects are as easy as ABC.

        SLIDE SHOW

Part of the original bathroom remodeling project included this glass block installation in the window. As shown in the pictures. The original garden bathroom window was clear glass with only a mini blind to provide privacy. The window frame and glass pane have been removed. The wood window framing has been modified to accommodate the exact size of the glass block window. The wood windowsill has been replaced and reinforced along with the crippler on the window jam.The gray material with black lines is a waterproof material normally used as a showerpan. We installed this material as an added protection measure for the wood sill and jams.In this section of the procedure, the glass block spacers are prepared . Some of the spacers have to be modified to working the corners of the window and others where the glass blocks meet the window jams. This is a close up of the glass block set in one corner. The view of the complete window after the glass blocks and the backerboards were installed. The sill , header, and window jams are ready to be tiled. The glass block has been installed in the window and the perimeter of the window has been tiled along with the rest of the bathroom project.
