On this particular shower pan replacement, a fiberglass shower pan was removed. It had cracked as fiberglass shower pans normally do. We went in and remove the shower door. Remove the fiberglass shower pan. Next two rows of tile were removed along with the two layers of sheetrock. We installed a tiled in shower drain because the drain used for the fiberglass doesn’t work for a shower floor that is tiled. New water-proof backerboard was installed. There are two layers. The first one was moisture resistant backerboard, that’s the green one. Then the water-proof layer was installed. The tile selected by the customer was installed with a small diamond band to accent the exsisting tile work. The shower floor tile was installed. All the new tile work was grouted in white. The shower door was reinstalled. In addition to the shower pan replacement, the homeowner instructed us to remove the old floor tile and carpet in the bathroom and closet floor and replace it as shown in the slide show.
